Ho ho no. What are we doing to Christmas?
Hey guys! Danseur here again! What a rainy, dreary day! Anyway, i just read this article in time magazine about a shopping mall in Australia banning Santa impersonators from saying the traditional ho ho ho and switching to ha ha ha which they felt would be nicer to the children and less offending to women. The whole thing made me think about how much we are ruining the best time of the year. Remember years ago people loved Christmas, and it was an easy time full of relaxing with family and fun parties? It seems like it's become such a hassle now, with ridiculous amounts of shopping, and stressing about the material goods that you buy for people. This Christmas, I recommend putting down the credit card, getting away from the movie screen and TV screen, and just put everything on hold. Don't buy, buy, buy, but rather give meaningful gifts that really mean something to someone other than the person you're giving it to. Give a donation to a charity that you think would fit the person's personality. Do they love animals? Give to the humane society! Or better yet, look into programs like the Heifer project that allows you to buy gifts of helpful animals for people in poverty. The gift comes with a beautiful card that I guarantee the recipient will cherish for years to come. Or try a coupon booklet filled with sweet offers and chores. Try your hand at knitting, beading, or painting and create something really special . This Christmas could be the best ever if everyone could just take a step back from the mayhem and get off the material stuff train. Really focus on what really matters, and you'll come back from the holiday break feeling really relaxed and fulfilled.
